Last night before dinner I finished building the cider press. Tonight will be it’s first run. Iv assume it’s last as well. Of course I’ll take pictures, before and after, but I think it’ll have to be rebuilt before a new batch.
Things I know, but didn’t bother to remember until it was too late.
Pilot holes. No, really, a split piece of wood had the structural stability of a fiat currency.
Speaking of structure, screws aren’t for it, glue is. Screws are for tacking shit together and determining direction of strength.
Never put screws in at an angle because your screws are too short. It makes everything else worse.
Never put things through the end of a board. A screw or nail going in the direction of the grain is a split, marching another fail.
Subarus don’t have bottle jacks, already Shanna’s doesn’t. It had a screw jack. This means less force and more work. Take inventory before I start.
May the failure be grand tonight!
