Work bench

A bit more work. Everything is roughly stable, with a bit more bracing added at the center.  Due to the physical structure of the stretch bars from Aaron Brothers, I have built in channels for running lights and control cables. Last night I also started to add reinforcement of the seams with beer bottle labels. I’ll continue this add they mange themselves available. Tonight I’ll start adding LEDs to the top bars, barring interruption. I still haven’t decided to use the Beaglenone or Pi for a controller /captuee device.

Semiautomatic Coffee

In March I’ll have the house to myself for a week or so. This might be the point that I get in and look at making a better coffee maker.

  • Plumbed
  • Multiple hoppers. Load it up once a week.
  • Multiple timers, plus manual web app
  • Coffee rating via app
  • On Brew light (think Afghan clock)
  • Multiple hopper loads (we like hazelnut on the weekend)

So… research time. I know the sink we have has a place I might be able to repurpose. Can I? I should add filtration. What are standard coffee metrics and measurement methods? I’m assuming darkness, acidity, temperature, and mass? How do I want to secure this? What failure levels do I want to build in?

First step. I need to build plant watering system. If I can have that run for a few months with no accidents, the Wif will probably be more amiable to this idea.

Work Bench in progress

I don’t know if I mentioned this. The commercial stretcher bars I had were made of multiple pieces of wood, and most of them were cheap. Long story short, my router started trimming then into kindling. So I thought and retooled.Today, I got back to my core. Glue,  lots of glue. I still need to add bracing, but after that it’ll be time to start mounting stuff.

Pi-top

Tomorrow after work I’ll be chilling in the car until the Wif I’d ready for an exit. So I’ll take the Pi-top with me.

  • Removed Libre (I’ll consider adding it back on. Someday.
  • Add kicad. Don’t need it tomorrow, but I should learn to use it.
  • Removed Epiphany. Why do I have two browsers?
  • Removed CEED Universe
  • Should look into gvfs, do I actually want this?
  • Is (lvwm?) what I want?
  • Do I need ATK?
  • Libcdr?
  • No piminecraft
  • Some of the above nuked pi-dashboard as well

Huh

That could have gone better. I started cutting the stretcher bars to make the shelf unit, and it immediately went to crap because the bars aren’t solid; not even close to solid. I’m currently rethinking my plans for those stretcher bars. On a better more though, my theory for what I was doing wrong with the router appears to be accurate.

To do

I put together the Pi-Top, and I’m getting an idea of what needs changing. For what it is it’s a fun little box, the leading software is definitely neat.

  • Remove the educational software
  • Add Kicad, Processing, and Inkscape
  • Start designing a better case. I want a fan or two. I want access to all my ports. I want access to the GPIO pins.
  • Consider a true HD. RPi 3 can now not from something other than SD.
  • Keep the slideout, it’s fun.
  • Optimize kernel

Visualization

Two 15x30s upright and on the ends. One across the top. Two more forming the back. I’ll need to shave a hair off of the two on the back.

Left side will have cubes made from cool things. Tool hammers across back. Lights on the top. Add a webcam on a lamp arm.

Into something.

  • 3 10×16
  • 2 11×14
  • 5 15×30
  • 3 11×17

Now, some of those measurements aren’t perfect. Some of the wood is crap. There’s word cut outs, cracks, and beveling everywhere. Lastly, that’s no consistency for thickness.
