Still slacking. I mean, it’s not even a legit fear of failure. Just laziness. On the other hand, food truck last night was wicked good. In fact, it was so good, we didn’t get pictures because the Wif and I were both too busy eating.
Falafel Salam
I feel dirty. I totally just linked to… the Book of Faces. If I do that three times, do I summon Candy Man?
Since I’m being so good at slacking, I think tonight I’ll start laying out wire, and bending all my LEDs. That might be some good prep. I should also use a sharpie to tag where the shower joints are. It’ll be easier doing them on a fat surface than free floating in air.
Did no work
I didn’t touch a thing. Maybe tonight or tomorrow night. I’m totally almost feeling it.
Tried flowcharting on the bus
I think I need to get my better sketch book soon. Heavy lined paper and diagrams don’t mesh that well. I’m not particularly sure if this is an example of selective memory remembering this style of lab book as being dope, or a failure on my part to check describe the item to the Wif. I’m voting the latter, as I’m positive that I told her they were yellow paper, in a blue cloth bound book, and probably sold in her school bookstore. I think she got me a blue book. Of course, this is without me knowing what a blue book actually looks like. Either way it’s an exchange journal, probably be fine for dealing the written word, maybe just not pictures and whatever.
But yeah, I think I’m sitting this post so I don’t have to diagram out my Arduino sketch.
So…

No more excuses
I do up LightBeer tonight. I have the bottles glued, a lot of wire, LEDs, solder, soldering iron, it’s dark, and I’m wearing sunglasses.
Of course even once everything is wired up, I still need to code. I had done earlier versions written, but never got past prototyping the code before I stopped due to (not) working on the physical side. I wonder if there is a analogy somewhere in the hardware/software versus mundane/magical. Probably is.
Either way, tonight I build. I’ll get all my LEDs wired in and the first round of code, even if it’s just turning on one LED. Just so long add its whichever LED I choose. Our at least that’s the plan. Really, even the best lasted plans collapse at first contact.
After I get that and the random iteration done, it will be time to start extending. I’m thinking for starters, a temperature based speed would be good. Probably have it be an inverse association. The colder it is, the faster they go.
No one near me sells hobby electronics
It’s not actually a surprise, just a statement. I’ve still got a “The Shack” nearby, but I don’t like dining on carrion, and u thought it’d be good to find a new watering hole. It got new thinking of what it would take to make a new, economically viable, local replacement for the goods they do sell. Sadly, I’m not seeing it.
I did remember to get AAA batteries though, so I now know my giant spool of stitcher wire is conductive. I also fishy found my two inches of solder. I’m not sure where I found it. But… it’s found.
Didn’t get to wiring my light today, but maybe tomorrow. I have bottles glued, solder, wire. Die time and energy are all that are missing.
Started speccing my headphones
This is weird, I’m actually planning before acting. For some reason I’m not a big fan of having a Lipo battery ignite while strapped to my head. Thinking an RN-52 for the brains. This week allow me to stream audio, have strip output and up to two 16 ohm speakers. Now I need to look at power supply options.
Bad idea
I’ve been thinking of what to make my headphones from. Not just the innards, but the structure. I mean, if I wanted a crap looking pair of earmuffs with speakers, I could just go hogging at Best Buy.
I want something chill looking; I want my logo backlit; I want a statement of belief and fashion.
I want beer bottles.
I want beer bottles.
Now, admittedly I have a lot of them, and when all you have is empty beer bottles, every problem looks like unrecognized alcoholism. But seriously.
Beer bottles.
Figure I’ll put together something passable in terms of electronics in the requisite diameter, make sure it sounds decent. Take that, measure the height and get to cutting. Of course, they’ll be heavy as a duck, be a massive breaking hazard, next to my jugular, be a talking point which its I’d because I don’t talk. But they’ll also be the bomb.
Now about the head band…
I miss him
Keeping distracted
I need to get my keyboard working. You know, that mechanical one that freaks out. I suppose I should start by chasing a work area, but then to business.
– look at what the keyboard is actually saying to the computer
– look for loose connections on the inside
– proceed from there
…our I could just designer the while thing, remove all the key caps, remove the extraneous keys, strap it all onto a new board run by a Teensy. I should start with the above, fix it if I can, then do the latter.
Probably going to order online
Direct from a company I appreciate though. I’ll get my bluetooth audio unit at the same time. That much closer to my custom headphones. FTW.
