Derp

That’s what I get for thinking late at night. To do this is pretty simple. Get one great that matches the drum. Get a flexible belt that has teeth to match the gear. Get a slack take-up wheel thing. Have the belt wrap (teeth out) around the bottle, with the tension wheel, um, making baby tensions our whatever. The two cylinders should be bumping in time.
I don’t even know if I need gears. Really, you almost never need gears. Gears make things easy to calculate, predictable, sad. I could go all nutty and use sand paper or rubber bands. Either one will give me super high friction, and by friction I mean mechanical joining. Rubber bands are easy to source, sand paper is almost as good. I’d need at least one big rubber band for the bottle tension wheel thing. The other one needs to be thin enough it disappears into the roller.
Just replied a text from the Wif. I asked her if we have any of said big rubber bands. We’ll see.
I should just carve the roller, like I’m doing block printing. Lord knows I have enough of these rollers. It would do a nice job of taking out the middle man of the plates. I should get some of the craft paint and see how will it adheres to the rollers. As in, an I going to be doing positive it negative printing. Either one is easy enough, it’s just how much I need to carve away. It might also affect the minimum object size. I’ve never tried doing a 3d block print before. Depending on the material of the individual roller, it might fill in on small voids if the roller holds the ink too well.
I joked about my project of the minute with my coworkers today. Most everyone sounded surprisingly interested in the final. It always kinda surprises me as I’m notorious for not ever building this stuff, just thinking about it until I have a plan and then calling it a day. Its probably a manifestation of my fear of failure. I should get this proj rolling. Hahaha. Best pun ever.

Bottle printing

I prefer bottles that printed on rather than just labeled. So, that’s my current projdea. I got bottles. I got rollers. Set up the rollers as a very small printing press. Cool. But. I have a lot of bottles. A lot of different sized bottles. The image drum needs have a matching (circumference velocity?). On the bus tomorrow I might start seeing that out. Maybe work on planning my press.

Cubbies

Each nook in the bookcase is 13.5 square. The edges are another 0.5. So I guess the measurements don’t matter until I get building. First though, I should actually bolt it to the wall. I never do it, and sometimes I do get that momentary concern. Bolting a display to the front and we’re looking at something that’s insecure and imbalanced. Maybe I need to do my controller and keyboard combo first. Or a couch. I should just get doing stuff.
The Wif is starting to feel better, I have two pallets called, and I’m listening to the best durn country album ever. I’m on it.

Further desk reorganization

Due to previously mentioned illnesses, I did little work on the Den last night. Mainly, while losing a game I never played, I looked to the right. I’m thinking, once I get a little more chaos reduced is to decouple the computer and the desk.
I have this big hulking bookcase, what if I mounted the screen right to it. I’ll have to do some measurements, but even if it doesn’t fit pretty, it might still fit. Once I get that done it’ll be a thing of making a better controller. If I didn’t do more than game, it didn’t be an issue, but I need a fullish keyboard and a mouse equivalent. I’m thinking I’ll get to ordering a teensy and a control stick while I’m at it. Then I just need to scavenge my Razer.

Sickness struck

It started with the damnable Jenkins last morn. While he made it to his post and began to prepare his equipment for the day’s watch, he soon complained of illness. After the watch commander bright this to my attention, I quickly made the walk to the wall to ascertain if this was a natural malady or some foul sending by the basics of this heathen land.
Upon inspection, I felt comfortable prescribing bed rest which was a great comfort to all involved after the purification burnings we we’re required to do last week. It’s not that my command is loath to preform their religious obligations, but the smell. Without meat being available this terrible season, even diseased meat cooking over a bonfire begins to smell delicious.
The day continued as such, one person after another coming down with this plague petite. Finally, after an entire day off chasing one pie soul after another and trying to find coverage for the gaps on the wall, I came home.
Little did I know that my own hearth works bring no respite. My fair bride, within minutes of my entry to our home, went from her usual self to agonized wimperings.

…and the quarter is started

Functionally, this means it’s back to quiet time. No banging on stuff too loud or nothing. I didn’t get everything done that I wanted, but I did get more done than I expected.
I need to get wood for putting my planters on. I need to get planters. I need to rig lights. I need to set all that up and get my tomatoes rocking out.
I need to get aquarium and gear. I need to start cycling. I need to add fish.
I need to clear more room. I need to clean more room. I need to augment my bookcase. I need to augment my desk.

So. Where to start. I didn’t out that in the form of a question, because it’s not. I’m not asking anyone, not even myself. I consider it to be an interjection at the beginning of a train to pull the answer out. But still. Totally not a question.
Every day I evict something that isn’t mine. I save myself two our more pallets of good wood.
I start building shelves. I build ventilation for soldering. I start desoldering crap boards. I build shelves from them.

Go.

Found this

Totally had to replace the audio. Because reasons.

(Music is now http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Robodub/Make_Yourself_Be_Heard/Breakdown. It actually works really well. I’m kinda tempted to cut a minute or so of the video, so that overlaps better.)

Edited:
By found I mean… Long time ago I used to much more avant-garde with my artistic styling. Now I’m much more of brute force. So I made this video, but it being before the internet being as robust as it is now, it just lived on a VCD. During one of my iterant moves from one place to another, I left many possessions with my parents. One item bring the cd. My mom found it and brought it to my attention a year or two ago. I just found it again. So here it is, actually viewable by people.

Totally doing stuff

Desk is destroyed.

Long live the desk.

If you can’t do something right…

do it bad.

Totally supports my bouncing weight. Which I estimate is good enough for a fish tank. I hope.

Commute was balls last night

So yeah, totally blew off doing real work. I more of just thought of what I need do. I gotta get desk old done first and foremost. From there I should be able to make some headway. Once desk old is gone, I gotta build the tank platform. This is super number two. I want that thing up on the casters before I get the tank, let alone fill it with water. Everything after that can just kinda flow. But those two. Gotta do them now.

Doing this

First. I need to retire my current desk and nice over to desk other. I might go further than that soon, but this is a good start. Once I break sheen my current desk, I need to build a platform, probably on previously mentioned casters, for a tank in the dimensions 12.5″L x 30.25″W x 13″H. This will go under a table to bring a planet box to window height. I need to do a curtain setup to allow light in, but keep eyes out. That has nothing to with the table other than the table will be between the chain and the window. The table itself will go over the track with the drain suspended above. Hmm. I might want to look at using tubing for that. If I have the drain end high enough to clear the tank side, it will probably splash water everywhere. Not cool. So tonight, I need to make floor space. I think I need to start by deporting that which is not mine and reducing clutter in general. I’ll see how that goes. Making some shelves might not be a bad idea as well.
